AZVC Team Expectations
Criteria for playing time on all teams= Attitude, Effort & Performance (A.E.P.) and not always in that order.
12’s
· Focus on fundamental skills and fine tuning basic skills
o Serving, Passing, Setting, Hitting, etc.
· Introduction to Competitive Volleyball
o Practice 2 times per week, CET training, multiple matches in one day, two day tournaments
· Learning to love the game
o Team bonding, cooperative learning, leadership positions, etc.
· Introduction to position play and learning each position
o Setter, Hitter(outside, middle, right side), Defensive specialist, etc.
· Sport specific training
o 14 sessions of Competitive Edge Training
· Introduction to earning playing time on the court according to the criteria listed above and positions
o Every practice player’s A.E.P. earns their playing time
· Everyone will get an opportunity to play at every tournament but it will not be equal
· Practice & Competitive Edge Training attendance is mandatory for tournament participation
13’s

15 Travel

· Run a faster offense and basic plays
· Serving areas will be taught and implemented in matches
· Blocking and footwork will be taught and implemented

· Initiate hitting control- line, cross, tip, roll shot, etc.
· Nutrition knowledge will be introduced and expected
· During travel tournaments all club rules and policies will be upheld and respected
· Player will have more personal expectations in regards to goal setting and their personal volleyball journey and future
o Great opportunity for athletes to learn responsibility
· Coaches will enforce tougher consequences for all aspects of the game and will not take on the role of parent or friend
o Consequence can be positive or negative regarding on the court skills such as listening, following rules & directions and responding to instructions.
· The PLAYER will now be responsible for knowing practice times, CET times, tournament times, locations and being on time. Parents are not accountable.
16 Travel

· Blocking and footwork will be taught and implemented

· Practice & Competitive Edge Training attendance is mandatory for tournament participation
· Physical demands of practice will increase
· Practice will be more goal based
· Every practice is a try out for play time
o Rewards come from consistent practice & CET attendance
· Basic skills will be refined
· Players must know rotations of offenses (6-2 & 5-1) and serve receive
· Players must know perimeter defense & rotational defense and be able to switch from one to the other in matches
· Run a faster offense
o Level of play is faster and will build on the 16 level expectations
· Serving areas will be implemented in matches
· Blocking and footwork will be expected
· Serving areas will be called in tournaments
· Hitting control- line, cross, tip, roll shot, etc.
· Fast Transition speed
· Free ball and serve receive plays will be expected and incorporated into play at tournaments
· Nutrition knowledge will be expected

· Scholarship education & help will be offered; however it is the player’s responsibility to do the work. Coaches will mentor and assist in the process.
· Players must have played a Varsity High School team or be able to play to that level in order to keep up with the level of play expected.
